Oh man, that 917 is awesome.

Those cars are all like one brick too narrow.

Indeed. I like that one, plus the R18. The Mustang is kind of meh.

Yes, but.... I have the LaFerrari and the 458 Italia, and both are wide enough for a single Minfigure. Making them wide enough for two would double the cost, and I think Lego is trying to keep these in the $20 range. Without the Minifig, the cars look fine. With the Minifig, they seem out of proportion.

Not a fan of the R8 LMS either. But most of those are pretty great! I need to get the F40 first, though.

I got that for Christmas. It’s a fun build.

Pit lane is $70? That seems steep. :(

732 pieces, and Legos usually come in about 10¢ per piece. But Lego also likes to pack the sets with silly little bits to get the price up.

I saw a few of these Speed Champion sets in a toy store a while ago, the Porsche set was going for an astounding 499 reais... Too expensive for me. I’ll be trying to figure out how to build one of these though, it’s more up my alley hahaha.

That's awesome.

Along with what ttyymmnn said, they are also licensed by Porsche, and Porsche license isn’t cheap.

I know right, the builder who made this Nova is probably one of the most talented car builders out there. His Mad Max creations are jaw dropping. He goes by the name of _Carlin on Flickr, if I remember correctly.

I guess I’m buying that Mustang so I can have my toy car and real car. Too bad it’s not silver

You could always buy the kit then use the parts list to special order the necessary pieces in the right color. You probably can't get silver, but you could likely get gray.

The LMP1 cars and the Raptor look very good. Rest...., not so.

That looks amazing.

And instantly recognizable too, which is not something easily done with a front end like the Nova’s in a medium like Lego.

True, he did a great job. It helps that a Nova has a simple design, using Lego to built a modern car is almost impossible with all the curves.
![]() 03/02/2016 at 15:38 |

What got me though was the slight curve on the grill and bumper. that’s essential to the Nova’s design, and it’s very difficult to pull off in Lego. I’ve no idea how he did it, save for leaving the parts slanted off the studs.

That intrigues me most as well. Perhaps he used some special pieces?

I thought about asking, but in the end I’d end up begging for instructions hahaha... I’d love to build one, but I’ve little to no experience with the techniques builders use nowadays.

Haha, “Please help me!!”. I do recognize most of the parts from other lego things, I think he used some special stuff.

Yeah, it just doesn’t look like more than twice the value of the McLaren Mercedes pit stop, and I’m sure that’s not cheap to license either. Oh well, just won’t be getting this one!

Hah, silver bar for valve covers. Genius :D
